Shane Tillapaugh,
B.Sc.
Shane Tillapaugh is a certified organic
land care professional and the founder
of Eco Island Gardenscapes, based in
Courtenay, BC, in Vancouver Island’s
picturesque Comox Valley.
An ardent naturalist, Shane has been
practicing organic landscaping and
gardening on Vancouver Island since
2004, long before the movement gained
the popularity it enjoys today. He’s an
expert on soil biology, including the
vast network of micro-organisms that
make your soil the most vital component
of your garden’s ecosystem. He’s also
well versed in the ecological
foundations of organic fertilizers,
plant-soil interactions, and tree care.
Shane’s designs are inspired by the
solemn forests, tranquil beach meadows
and hardy native plants of Vancouver
Island. His landscapes reflect the
majesty of the world around us, and
bring the solitude and wonder of our
natural environment into your back yard.
Originally from Quadra Island, Shane
moved to the Comox Valley and founded
Eco Island Gardenscapes in 2006 as an
alternative to traditional
horticulture’s harmful chemicals and
toxic pesticides. In a society that
already has so many environmentally
damaging habits, the sustainable organic
methods of Eco Island Gardenscapes just
make sense.
